Talbot will attempt to earn his third straight win after stopping 58 of 63 shots (.921 save percentage) over his past two starts. He performed solidly against the Panthers last year, posting a 2-1-0 record with a 2.35 GAA and .935 save percentage across three outings. Talbot had a 21-19-5 record, 2.93 GAA and .900 save percentage in 47 appearances overall with Detroit in 2024-25.

Talbot made 38 saves on 40 shots in a 3-2 win over Toronto on Monday.
Talbot put up an all-world effort Monday after notching a 6-3, 20-save victory over the Maple Leafs on Saturday night. He's played back-to-back games after newly-acquired John Gibson coughed up five goals on 13 shots in a 5-1 loss to the Canadiens on Thursday. Talbot made two of his best saves on Auston Matthews at 5:17 of the third. He stopped Matthews' first shot from the left dot, and then he denied AM34 with a left pad save on the rebound. Talbot sees himself as good enough to platoon with Gibson; right now, the Red Wings will play the hot hand.

Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Starting in Toronto
Talbot will defend the road net against Toronto on Monday, according to Ansar Khan of MLive.com.
Talbot will get his second straight start after stopping 20 shots in a 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday. He also made a relief appearance against Montreal in Detroit's season opener, making four saves on the four shots he faced in 22:37 of action after John Gibson got the hook.

The Red Wings were down 2-0 by the 12:29 mark of the first, but Talbot battened the hatches and gave his team a shot at a comeback. The score was actually closer than it seemed -- the Wings scored two empty-net goals. Talbot remains the No. 2 netminder behind John Gibson, but he will still deliver fantasy value. Gibson needs to prove he can resurrect his career as a starter while staying healthy, and Talbot is a solid insurance policy.

The Red Wings' defense didn't allow many shots to get through to its netminders -- Detroit out-shot Montreal 31-17 on the night -- but it did allow plenty of good scoring chances to help spoil Gibson's debut with the team. Gibson is expected to handle starting duties after being acquired from the Ducks in June, but the 38-year-old Talbot should be ready to take on a larger workload if necessary after averaging 46.5 appearances over the last four seasons with a 2.76 GAA and .907 save percentage during stints with the Wild, Senators, Kings and Wings.

Since the start of April, Talbot has gone 2-2-1 with 12 goals allowed in five starts. But prior to that, he rang up six consecutive losses (21 goals allowed).
