Top 49ers News

  • 49ers' Kendrick Bourne: Production peters out Sunday

Bourne pulled in both of his targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Falcons.

Bourne failed to extend his unlikely streak of recording exactly 142 yards to three games in Sunday's win. The drop-off was drastic for the veteran wideout after finishing with a season-low two targets. The victory was led by San Francisco's defense and rushing attack, resulting in poor receiving lines for every position player outside of RB Christian McCaffrey (7-72-0). Bourne's role could reduce further in Week 8 if Ricky Pearsall (knee) is able to return from injury. For now, consider Bourne a deep-league option against the Texans next Sunday.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Gains 31 yards Sunday

Jennings (ankle/ribs/shoulder) had four receptions on seven targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 20-10 win over Atlanta.

Jennings was dealing with a myriad of minor injuries before being cleared of all designations leading up to Sunday's kick off. The 27-year-old operated as the 49ers' top wideout with Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Brandon Aiyuk (knee) still unavailable for Week 7. Jennings' 31 receiving yards and seven targets led all San Francisco receivers not named Christian McCaffrey, who carried the offense with 201 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. Look for Jennings' production to improve alongside his health as the season progresses. Up next is a road tilt against the Texans next Sunday.

  • 49ers' George Kittle: No catches in return from injury

Kittle (hamstring) failed to bring in either of his targets in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Falcons.

It was a Christian McCaffrey focused gameplan out of the gates Sunday, resulting in no San Francisco receiver topping 31 yards in the win. Kittle's managers were hoping for more after he spent the last five-plus weeks tending to his injured hamstring on IR. The star tight end didn't appear limited while running routes, which is the only silver lining from Sunday's bagel in the box score. Kittle will look to get more involved offensively against the Texans next Sunday for a 49ers' squad that is still banged-up at the receiver position.

  • 49ers' Mac Jones: Gritty performance in win

Jones (knee/oblique) completed 17 of 26 pass attempts for 152 yards and an interception while recording five rush attempts for 11 yards in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Falcons.

Jones was asked to play the role of game manager Sunday, and he did just that, keeping drives alive for Christian McCaffrey to feast on Atlanta's defense for 200-plus yards and two touchdowns. The veteran backup threw an interception for the second week in a row and failed to record a touchdown in as many games. Jones has been a godsend for the 5-2 49ers, but the luster has worn off from a fantasy perspective following a hot start filling in for Brock Purdy (toe). The latter resumed practicing this week, so it wouldn't be shocking to see Jones resume his backup role against the Texans next Sunday.

  • 49ers' Christian McCaffrey: First 100-yard rushing game of 2025

McCaffrey rushed 24 times for 129 yards and two touchdowns while bringing in seven of eight targets for 72 yards in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Falcons.

The levee finally broke in terms of McCaffrey's ground game as he cracked the century mark in rushing for the first time this season. It was also the dual-threat superstar's first game with multiple trips to the end zone in 2025, bringing his rushing touchdown total on par with the three receiving scores he has provided fantasy managers so far. McCaffrey also served as the 49ers' leading receiver in a truly dominating performance from start to finish. CMC has been an absolute monster in fantasy this season with over 900 combined yards from scrimmage, making him virtually matchup-proof heading into next Sunday's tilt against a stingy Houston defense.

  • 49ers' Renardo Green: Downgraded to out

Green (toe) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday night's game against the Falcons, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

The cornerback suffered the injury during the first half. Green made two tackles (one solo) before exiting. Darrell Luter should be the next man up at outside corner.

  • 49ers' Jake Brendel: Ruled out Sunday night

Brendel has a hamstring injury and has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday night's matchup with the Falcons, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The veteran has started all seven games this season and every 49ers game dating back to 2021. Matt Hennessy is his backup.

  • 49ers' Renardo Green: Dealing with toe injury

Green (toe) is questionable to return to Sunday night's contest against Atlanta, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Green suffered an apparent toe injury in the first half of the contest, and his status for the rest of the game is now up in the air. In his absence, Darrell Luter is a top candidate to see an uptick in usage at cornerback versus the Falcons.

  • 49ers' Kevin Givens: Good to go Sunday night

Givens (pectoral) is active for Sunday night's game against the Falcons.

The defensive tackle was activated from injured reserve Saturday after practicing in full throughout the week. Givens recorded 11 tackles (six solo), including 3.5 sacks, in eight games last season. He's in line for a rotational role again in his first game back.

  • 49ers' Renardo Green: Active Sunday night

Green (neck) is active for Sunday night's matchup with the Falcons.

The cornerback entered the day with a questionable tag even though he played through the injury the last two weeks. Green has played on at least 86 percent of the defensive snaps in all five games he's suited up for this season. The 2024 second-round pick has 18 tackles (11 solo) and five pass breakups on the year.

  • 49ers' Upton Stout: Inactive for SNF

Stout (ankle) is inactive for Sunday night's clash with the Falcons.

The rookie slot corner injured his ankle during Thursday's practice and was listed as questionable going into Sunday. Stout has played on at least 48 percent of the defensive snaps in each of San Francisco's six games. In his absence, Jason Pinnock, Malik Mustapha and Chase Lucas could see more playing time.

  • 49ers' Jordan James: Not playing Sunday night

James (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday Night Football against the Falcons.

The rookie running back will now be a healthy scratch for a sixth consecutive game. Christian McCaffrey, Brian Robinson and Isaac Guerendo remain ahead of James, a fifth-round pick in the draft, on the depth chart.

... See More ... See Less
  • 49ers' Jordan Watkins: Inactive Sunday night

Watkins (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday night's matchup with the Falcons.

The rookie wide receiver is a healthy scratch even with Ricky Pearsall still out due to a knee injury. Jauan Jennings, Kendrick Bourne, Demarcus Robinson and Skyy Moore are leading the 49ers' wide receiver depth chart for this game. Watkins was a possible candidate for punt return duties, but it appears that Moore will handle that role instead.
