Johnson participated in some contact work during practice as he continues to manage a lingering leg bruise that sidelined him for the entire preseason. His availability for Opening Night on Wednesday against the Bucks remains uncertain, and even if cleared, the guard is projected to have a limited role in the rotation.

Coulibaly participated in portions of contact drills during Saturday's practice as he recovers from right thumb surgery. Wizards general manager Will Dawkins previously noted that the wing was expected to return within the first or second week of the regular season, so this practice development aligns with that initial expectation.

Carrington left Thursday's preseason game against the Pistons due to left knee soreness, and he was able to do some "light" work Saturday. As for Carrington's status for Opening Night on Oct. 22, head coach Brian Keefe said the Wizards are still evaluating that. If he's unable to play, the Wizards could turn to rookie Tre Johnson to fill the void.

Wizards' Alex Sarr: Scores 10 points Thursday
Sarr registered 10 points (2-8 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 6-6 FT), nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 23 minutes of Thursday's 119-98 preseason loss to Detroit.
Sarr struggled to score efficiently from the field, and that was a consistent theme during his rookie season. And if Thursday was any indication, Sarr has the green light to shoot from beyond the arc as he continues to expand his game. Apart from his offensive shortcomings, there's a lot to like here in terms of defense and rebounding from a fantasy perspective.

Wizards' CJ McCollum: Bright spot in loss
McCollum recorded 17 points (6-13 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 24 minutes of Thursday's 119-98 preseason loss to Detroit.
This game had the look of a dress rehearsal for Washington, although the starters played reduced workloads. McCollum tied Corey Kispert with a team-high 13 shots, and the former caught fire from beyond the arc. On paper, McCollum has plenty of fantasy appeal, but it's fair to wonder how heavily the Wizards will rely on him as the season progresses.

Wizards' Corey Kispert: Notches 12 points
Kispert logged 12 points (5-13 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one steal across 23 minutes of Thursday's 119-98 preseason loss to Detroit.
Kispert underwent successful surgery on his left thumb in March, but he's been a full go throughout the preseason. Kispert is projected to have a sizable role with the second unit in 2025-26, though you could argue that the Wizards may be more inclined to play their young wings as the season progresses.

Johnson missed the final three matchups of the preseason while dealing with a bruised leg. His next chance to take the court will arrive in the regular-season opener Wednesday against Milwaukee, his former team. However, Johnson is not expected to be much of a factor in the Wizards' rotation to begin the year.

George looked good starting alongside the regulars in Washington's preseason finale, so it'll be interesting to see if he can begin the season as a starter. It helps his case that Bilal Coulibaly (thumb) will begin the year on the sidelines, and the Wizards will be looking to develop their young guys this season, given the current roster construction isn't expected to be competitive.

Carrington needed help off the court after suffering the injury, so this diagnosis is a positive one for the Wizards. He can be considered day-to-day until the team provides another update on his status. Washington opens the regular season in Milwaukee on Wednesday.
