Top Rangers News

  • Rangers' Raoul Boilard: Adds three helpers in QMJHL loss

Boilard recorded three assists in QMJHL Shawinigan's 8-5 loss to Blainville-Boisbriand on Sunday.

Boilard has gotten on the scoresheet in just two of nine games this season, but each time has been a three-point effort. The lack of consistency is a concern, but the ability to play a big role in a game is still a slight positive. Boilard has plenty of time to continue developing but will need to find a balance in his offense.

  • Rangers' Vladislav Gavrikov: Gets on scoresheet with helper

Gavrikov logged an assist and two PIM in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.

The helper came on an Artemi Panarin tally in the third period, which stood as the game-winner. Gavrikov hasn't offered much offense, though the same could be said for many of the Rangers amid a slow start to the season. In addition to his single point, he has eight shots on net, 10 blocked shots, two hits, six PIM and a plus-3 rating while skating alongside Adam Fox on the first pairing.

  • Rangers' Adam Fox: Collects two more helpers

Fox notched a pair of assists, two shots on goal, two hits and two blocked shots in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.

Fox had been held off the scoresheet in the previous three games, a span in which the Rangers had just one goal. Despite the team's scoring woes, Fox already has three goals and three assists in seven contests. He's added 19 shots on net, 11 blocks and a plus-1 rating. Fantasy managers don't have to worry about Fox's production -- he's a No. 1 blueliner on the ice and in most formats as well.

  • Rangers' Matthew Robertson: Nets first NHL goal in win

Robertson scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.

The goal gave the Rangers their first lead in the contest at 3-2 in the third period. It was Robertson's first tally in six career appearances, four of which have come this season since Carson Soucy (upper body) landed on injured reserve last Sunday. Robertson appears set to be a bottom-four defenseman for most of 2025-26, though he may occasionally sit out when the Rangers' blue line is at full health. He has four hits, one blocked shot, three shots on net and a minus-1 rating.

  • Rangers' J.T. Miller: Pots goal vs. Montreal

Miller recorded one goal on four shots in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.

Miller snapped his three-game point drought with a goal only 34 seconds into the third period. This was his second goal of the season, and the 32-year-old is one of several forwards who have endured an underwhelming start to the campaign for the Rangers. Through seven contests, Miller has two goals and two assists, with only one of those four points coming on the power play.

  • Rangers' Mika Zibanejad: Nets power-play goal

Zibanejad scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.

Zibanejad snapped his three-game point drought in style, scoring the Rangers' first goal with a slap shot on the power play at the 11:56 mark of the first period and later assisting on Artemi Panarin's game-winning goal in the third. Zibanejad is one of several New York forwards enduring a slow start to the season, though. This was his first multi-point effort of the campaign, and he has only three points (two goals, one assist) in seven contests.

  • Rangers' Artemi Panarin: Dominant effort vs. Montreal

Panarin recorded a goal and three assists, including one on the power play, in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.

Panarin was involved in each of the Rangers' goals in this win, setting up each of the first three and later scoring what ended up being the game-winning tally at the 5:51 mark of the final period. Panarin had endured a slow start to the season with only two points in his first six outings, but he seems to have ended his slump with this dominant effort.

  • Rangers' Jonathan Quick: Earns first win of season

Quick stopped 21 of 24 shots in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.

Quick made his second start of the season Saturday and earned his first win. His previous start was also a solid outing despite him being tagged with the loss, as he allowed just one goal on 21 shots against the Capitals. Through two starts, Quick owns a .911 save percentage and has stopped 41 of the 45 shots he's faced. He remains firmly in a backup role behind Igor Shesterkin, but the former might be a good matchup-based play given his solid start to the season -- even if he starts only from time to time.

  • Rangers' Jonathan Quick: Guarding road crease

Quick is set to start on the road against Montreal on Saturday, per Colin Stephenson of Newsday.

Quick is getting his second start of the season after stopping 20 of 21 shots in a 1-0 loss to Washington on Sunday. The 39-year-old Quick will probably be limited to 20-25 starts this season if Igor Shesterkin stays healthy. Montreal is 4-1-0 and is tied for sixth in goals per game with 3.60 this year.

  • Rangers' EJ Emery: Pair of goals in UND win

Emery scored twice on three shots in the University of North Dakota's 5-2 win over the University of Minnesota on Friday.

Emery was limited to a single assist in 31 appearances for North Dakota last year. His two-goal effort is therefore a bit unexpected, but it's a positive sign that he's made some gains on offense. In any case, the 19-year-old blueliner's a shutdown defender in the making, which will be more valuable on the ice than in fantasy.

  • Rangers' Connor Mackey: Sent to minors

Mackey was reassigned to AHL Hartford on Friday.

Mackey was recalled Sunday when Carson Soucy (upper body) was placed on injured reserve. Mackey was a healthy scratch in all three games. The Rangers currently have seven healthy defensemen after recalling Scott Morrow from the minors Wednesday.

  • Rangers' Braden Schneider: Pockets helper

Schneider notched an assist and two shots on goal in Thursday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.

Schneider is up to two assists through six outings this season. The 24-year-old has played in a bottom-four role for the Rangers, though he's also seeing time on the second power-play unit. That could change, given the Rangers' scoring struggles and the presence of Scott Morrow on the roster. Schneider has added 10 shots on net, 15 hits, nine blocked shots and two PIM and should continue to be a steady defensive presence even if he is unable to improve upon his offense in his fifth NHL campaign.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Gets minimal help from teammates

Shesterkin made 22 saves in a 2-1 overtime loss to Toronto on Thursday.

Shesterkin was brilliant, but the Rangers struggled offensively. The team finally scored a goal in the third period, and it was the club's first in 170:39. The Rangers had been shut out in each of their prior two games. Shesterkin is one of the NHL's best, but not even the best can fix what ails this team.

  • Rangers' Juuso Parssinen: Gets team's only goal in OT loss

Parssinen scored a goal Thursday in a 2-1 overtime loss to Toronto.

Parssinen deflected a shot from Braden Schneider in the slot at 4:51 of the third period. The Rangers had been shut out in each of their prior two games, and the goal was their first in 170:39. Parssinen has a point (one goal, one assist) in two games this season after putting up 16 points, including six goals, in 48 games between the Preds, Avs and Rangers last season.

  • Rangers' Will Borgen: Slated to play

Borgen (lower body) took warmups on the second pairing, indicating he is ready to play versus the Maple Leafs on Thursday, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.

Borgen will likely also see time on the penalty kill. The 28-year-old blueliner has an assist, eight hits, six blocked shots, four shots on net and a plus-2 rating over five appearances to begin 2025-26.

... See More ... See Less
  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Starting in Toronto

Shesterkin will protect the road goal versus the Maple Leafs on Thursday, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.

Shesterkin is 2-2-0 with just three goals allowed on 106 shots to begin the season. That speaks to some bad luck -- both losses have come with the Rangers getting shut out at home. The 29-year-old has won both of his road games and will look to stay hot against the Maple Leafs, who have 17 goals through four contests.
