Hornets' Tidjane Salaun: Flirts with double-double in loss
Salaun posted nine points (4-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 0-2 FT), 10 rebounds and three assists in Friday's 113-108 preseason loss to the Knicks.
Salaun led all reserves in points, rebounds and minutes played (29), which is very encouraging for the young forward as he clamors for a spot in the regular-season rotation. If Grant Williams (knee) can not play in the team's first game, expect Salaun to take his place amongst the second unit.

Hornets' Moussa Diabate: Logs 11 in preseason start
Diabate put up 11 points (3-4 FG, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, three steals, a block and an assist over 23 minutes in Friday's 113-108 preseason loss to the Knicks.
Diabate drew the start over rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner and is trending towards being Charlotte's starting center in their first regular season game, as he outpaced Kalkbrenner (15) and Mason Plumlee (10) in minutes played during the team's final preseason outing. In eight starts during the 2024-25 season, Diabate averaged 7.6 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.6 blocks over 28.3 minutes.

Hornets' Liam McNeeley: Scores 11 in spot start
McNeeley recorded 11 points (4-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, four assists and one steal in 31 minutes during Friday's 113-108 preseason loss to the Knicks.
McNeeley drew a rare start in Charlotte's preseason finale with the team electing to rest a good chunk of the usual starters. He wasn't able to find his groove from beyond the arc but still scored in double figures, primarily by connecting on his shots in the paint. McNeeley isn't expected to have much of a role in the rotation when the regular season begins Wednesday against the Nets.

Hornets' Kon Knueppel: Totals 12 points in Friday's loss
Knueppel logged 12 points (5-12 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, three assists and two steals over 24 minutes during Friday's 113-108 preseason loss to the Knicks.
Knueppel was in the starting lineup for Charlotte's final two matchups of the preseason, tallying 21 total points and seven assists over this brief stretch. The rookie out of Duke appears poised to begin the 2025-26 regular season in a starting role for the Hornets and will have plenty of firepower surrounding him in Miles Bridges, LaMelo Ball (knee) and Brandon Miller (wrist).

Hornets' Miles Bridges: Scores 20 points in 18 minutes
Bridges notched 20 points (8-13 FG, 4-8 3Pt), five rebounds and two turnovers in 18 minutes during Friday's 113-108 preseason loss to the Knicks.
Bridges lit it up over the final three preseason games, posting averages of 23.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 4.3 triples per contest, so he looks more than ready to attack the 2025-26 season. He'll again be one of the key cogs in Charlotte's offense and will make for a solid, mid-round target on draft day.

Hornets' Collin Sexton: Scores 21 points with 10 assists
Sexton recorded 21 points (6-9 FG, 5-6 3PT, 4-4 FT), 10 assists, two rebounds and one steal in 27 minutes during Friday's 113-108 preseason loss to the Knicks.
Sexton was able to operate as the primary conductor on offense with LaMelo Ball (knee) and Brandon Miller (wrist) taking the night off, and he made the most of the opportunity despite committing nine turnovers. Sexton will likely helm Charlotte's second unit this season, but as long as Ball and Miller are healthy, his upside will be capped.

Hornets' Liam McNeeley: Starting Friday
McNeeley will start in Friday's preseason game against the Knicks.
Brandon Miller (wrist), LaMelo Ball (knee) and Tre Mann (hip) are sitting out Friday's preseason finale, so McNeeley will draw the start and he'll be joined by Collin Sexton, Kon Knueppel, Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate. Through four preseason games, McNeeley has averaged 5.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game.

Hornets' Ryan Kalkbrenner: Not starting vs. New York
Kalkbrenner is not in the starting lineup for Friday's preseason game against the Knicks.
Kalkbrenner will make way for Moussa Diabate at center in this preseason finale. The rookie out of Creighton has turned heads in preseason with his play, so he may have a solid grip on a rotation spot once the regular season begins against the Nets on Wednesday.

Hornets' Moussa Diabate: Starting Friday
Diabate will start in Friday's preseason game against New York.
The 23-year-old center will join the first unit in the team's preseason finale, pushing Ryan Kalkbrenner to the bench. Diabate will start alongside Collin Sexton, Kon Knueppel, Liam McNeeley and Miles Bridges.

Hornets' Collin Sexton: Starting preseason finale
Sexton will start Friday's preseason finale against the Knicks.
With LaMelo Ball (knee), Tre Mann (hip) and Brandon Miller (wrist) sidelined, Sexton will start at point guard. He'll be surrounded by Kon Knueppel, Liam McNeeley, Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate.

Hornets' Tre Mann: Will remain out Friday
Mann (hip) won't play in Friday's preseason finale against the Knicks.
Mann will miss a second straight game due to hip soreness. His status will be worth monitoring ahead of Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Nets. Mann is competing with Kon Knueppel and Collin Sexton for a starting spot on the wing.

Hornets' Brandon Miller: Ruled out for preseason finale
Miller is out for Friday's preseason finale against the Knicks due to right wrist soreness.
It seems like the Hornets are simply giving Miller the night off. However, the injury designation will leave his status at least somewhat up in the air for Wednesday's season opener against the Nets. That should be cleared up when Charlotte releases its first injury report of the regular season Tuesday afternoon.

Hornets' LaMelo Ball: Sitting preseason finale
Ball won't play in Friday's preseason finale against the Knicks due to a right knee contusion.
Ball notched 23 points (7-16 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 5-5 FT), eight assists, five rebounds, one steal and five turnovers in 28 minutes of Wednesday's 145-116 preseason win over the Grizzlies. However, after banging knees with an opponent Wednesday, he'll take a seat for the preseason finale, likely due to precautionary reasons. He'll have a few days off to rest and rehab before the Hornets open the regular season at home against the Nets on Oct. 22.

Hornets' Brandon Miller: Breaks out in win
Miller finished with 21 points (7-16 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 4-5 FT), six assists, two rebounds, three steals and one block across 30 minutes of Wednesday's 145-116 preseason win over the Grizzlies.
Miller was having a tough time in the preseason prior to Wednesday, but he was able to shake off some rust for a stellar performance against Memphis. Miller was well on his way to a breakout campaign in 2024-25 before a wrist injury cut it short, but now that he's fully healthy, he's been in hot demand during fantasy drafts.

Hornets' LaMelo Ball: Puts up 23 points
Ball notched 23 points (7-16 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 5-5 FT), eight assists, five rebounds, one steal and five turnovers in 28 minutes of Wednesday's 145-116 preseason win over the Grizzlies.
Ball was outstanding in this game, and he showcased his creativity and flair on several instances. He was challenged by the franchise to become more of a leader this season, and he spent a ton of time in the gym prepping his body for the campaign after some injury issues in the past. Things are looking up for Charlotte's franchise point guard.

Hornets' Miles Bridges: Excels in preseason win
Bridges logged 29 points (11-16 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds and five assists in 30 minutes of Wednesday's 145-116 preseason win over the Grizzlies.
This had the look of a regular-season dress rehearsal, and the first unit for Charlotte had a field day. The offense was firing on all cylinders, and Bridges showed good chemistry alongside LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller, with all three hoisting 16 shots apiece.
... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Moussa Diabate: Monster double-double in preseason
Diabate generated 18 points (6-7 FG, 6-8 FT), 13 rebounds and one block across 25 minutes of Wednesday's 145-116 preseason win over Memphis.
Diabate led Charlotte's reserves in points and paced the whole team in rebounds. Nine of his 13 boards came on the offensive end. Entering his fourth professional season, Diabate appears to be competing with rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner for the starting center spot.

Hornets' Collin Sexton: Back to bench Wednesday
Sexton is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's preseason game against Memphis.
While he started Saturday's preseason game against the Mavericks, Sexton will instead come off the bench Wednesday as the Hornets tinker with their starting lineup. Given LaMelo Ball's lengthy injury history, Sexton has some contingent upside in fantasy leagues this season if Ball were to go down.
... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Kon Knueppel: Will start vs. Memphis
Knueppel will be in the starting lineup in Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies.
After coming off the bench during Thursday's preseason matchup against the Thunder, the rookie forward will be in the first five. The Duke product will join LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges and Ryan Kalkbrenner in the starting lineup. Veteran guard Collin Sexton will be in the second unit.
... See More ... See Less -
Hornets' Tre Mann: Won't play vs. Memphis
Mann (hip) has been ruled out for Wednesday's preseason game against the Grizzlies, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Mann continues to deal with hip soreness, which began during Saturday's preseason matchup against the Mavericks. He played only three minutes in that game before being ruled out. There's a chance he has played his last preseason game and may not return to the floor until the regular-season opener against the Nets on Oct. 22.
