Grizzlies' Ty Jerome: Further evaluation looming
Jerome (calf) will be further evaluated this weekend, Michael Wallace of the Grizzlies' official site reports.
Jerome sustained a right calf injury during Friday's preseason matchup against the Heat and exited after logging just four minutes. The guard, who signed a three-year deal with the Grizzlies this offseason, will have his health closely monitored heading into the regular season, given Ja Morant (ankle) is still ramping up and Scotty Pippen (toe) is sidelined for three months.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Likely out three months
Pippen is slated to undergo a procedure to address a left big toe injury and will be re-evaluated in 12 weeks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
After appearing in a career-high 79 games in 2024-25 while averaging 9.9 points, 4.4 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.1 three-pointers in 21.3 minutes, Pippen had been projected to handle a prominent role during the upcoming season as one of Memphis' first guards off the bench. However, with his preseason toe injury now set to keep him out around three months, the Grizzlies may have to turn to free-agent pickup Ty Jerome to handle more of an on-ball role when starting point guard Ja Morant is off the court. Two-way player Javon Small could also be a candidate to slide into the rotation right off the bat to begin his rookie season.

Grizzlies' Olivier-Maxence Prosper: Stuffs stat sheet in win
Prosper put up 11 points (3-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), six rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block over 24 minutes in Friday's 141-125 preseason win over Miami.
Prosper is on a two-way contract with the Grizzlies and will likely be with the team's G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle, to begin the season. However, his encouraging performance in the preseason finale could result in him being called up if the team wants to shake up its rotational depth later in the season.

Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Adds 11 in preseason finale
Spencer put up 11 points (3-8 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists, three rebounds and a steal over 21 minutes in Friday's 141-125 preseason win over the Heat.
Spencer took advantage of Ja Morant's absence and backup Ty Jerome playing only four minutes, pacing the team in assists (five) and three-point attempts (six). While Spencer is in competition with Javon Small for minutes, it is worth noting Small is on a two-way contract, meaning it is likely Spencer begins the regular season as the third-string point guard behind Morant and Jerome.

Grizzlies' John Konchar: Modest outing in preseason finale
Konchar scored five points (1-2 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-4 FT) and added two rebounds, an assist and a block across 15 minutes in Friday's 141-125 preseason victory over Miami.
Konchar is buried in the Grizzlies' depth chart and isn't expected to have a major role to begin the regular season. He's competing with Vince Williams, GG Jackson and Santi Aldama for minutes, but expect more clarity regarding the team's rotation in the coming days as Memphis prepares for its first regular season game against the Pelicans on Wednesday.

Grizzlies' DeJon Jarreau: Signs with Memphis
The Grizzlies signed Jarreau to a contract Saturday.
In a related move, the Grizzlies waived Lawson Lovering. This is likely an Exhibit 10 deal for Jarreau, with the Grizzlies looking to secure his G League rights.

Grizzlies' GG Jackson: Efficient outing vs. Miami
Jackson registered 13 points (5-6 FG, 3-3 3Pt), two rebounds, one steal and one block over 12 minutes during Friday's 141-125 preseason win over the Heat.
Jackson scored in double digits for the second time in three games and finished second behind Javon Small (16) in points off the Grizzlies' bench. Jackson -- the Grizzlies' second-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft -- faces stiff competition for bench minutes from the likes of Vince Williams, John Konchar and Santi Aldama. Jackson had a strong rookie season, but he saw a dip in his numbers during the 2024-25 campaign after missing the first three months of the season while recovering from offseason foot surgery.

Grizzlies' Jock Landale: Another solid preseason outing
Landale tallied 12 points (5-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 17 minutes during the Grizzlies' 141-125 preseason win over the Heat on Friday.
Landale's six rebounds were tied with Olivier-Maxence Prosper for second most on the Grizzlies behind PJ Hall (seven). Landale has scored 12 points in back-to-back games and has started at center for each of the Grizzlies' four preseason contests. The fifth-year Saint Mary's product appears to have the upper hand on Santi Aldama for the starting job at center for at least the start of the 2025-26 regular season.

Grizzlies' Javon Small: Leads Grizz bench with 16 points
Small tallied 16 points (6-8 FG, 4-5 3Pt), five assists and one rebound during the Grizzlies' 141-125 preseason win over the Heat on Friday.
Small reverted to a reserve role in Friday's exhibition contest due to the return of Ty Jerome, though the latter didn't return to the game after injuring his right calf in the first quarter. Small ended up playing 21 minutes and led the bench in scoring while pacing both teams with four three-pointers. The rookie second-rounder has logged at least five assists in each of his four preseason outings and has scored in double-digits in his last two appearances. Small could see some playing time early in the regular season if Jerome and Scotty Pippen (toe) miss time.

Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Scores 21 points in blowout win
Wells contributed 21 points (7-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes during Friday's 141-125 blowout preseason win over the Heat.
Wells should open the year as a starter in Memphis and he'll look to build off a rookie season in which he put up 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 triples per contest. He could be worth a late-round pick in deep leagues on draft day.

Grizzlies' Ty Jerome: Won't return Friday
Jerome (calf) will not return to Friday's exhibition versus Miami.
Jerome tweaked his right calf early in the first quarter and will end his evening with two rebounds, two assists, one steal and two turnovers over four minutes. The Grizzlies open their season Tuesday against the Pelicans, and for now, Jerome should be considered questionable for that game.

Grizzlies' Ty Jerome: Exits to locker room vs. Miami
Jerome exited to the locker room after sustaining an apparent right lower-leg injury in the first quarter of Friday's preseason game against the Heat, Cyro Asseo of HoopsHype reports.
Jerome grabbed at his lower leg and limped to the locker room with 7:52 remaining in the opening quarter. If the guard is unable to return, Cam Spencer and Javon Small are candidates for an uptick in minutes the rest of the way.

Grizzlies' Javon Small: Not starting Friday
Small is not in the starting lineup for Friday's exhibition with the Heat.
Ty Jerome is back from a rest day, so Small will shift back to the second unit Friday evening. Through three preseason games, Small has contributed averages of 9.0 points, 6.3 assists and 3.7 turnovers per contest in 27.3 minutes a night.

Grizzlies' Ty Jerome: Suiting up Friday
Head coach Tuomas Iisalo said Jerome will be ramped up in Friday's preseason game against the Heat, Michael Wallace of the Grizzlies' official site reports.
Jerome is set to return to action after sitting out Wednesday's loss to the Hornets and will start at point guard, with Ja Morant (ankle) and Scotty Pippen (toe) unavailable. The 28-year-old is coming off a career-best year with Cleveland, during which he averaged 12.5 points, 3.4 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals across 19.9 minutes per game in 70 regular-season outings (three starts).
... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Won't play Friday
Head coach Tuomas Iisalo said Morant (ankle) won't play in Friday's preseason game against the Heat but "is progressing really well" and participated in the team's shootaround, Michael Wallace of the Grizzlies' official site reports.
Morant is still recovering from a sprained left ankle, though the Grizzlies are hopeful he'll return for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Pelicans. With the star guard sidelined and Ty Jerome ramping up, Cam Spencer and Javon Small are candidates for a bump in minutes.
... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Won't play Friday
Pippen (toe) has been ruled out for Friday's preseason finale with Miami, Michael Wallace of the Grizzlies' official site reports.
Pippen will wind up missing Memphis' final four preseason games due to the toe issue, and for now, he should be considered questionable for the Opening Night clash against the Pelicans on Wednesday. Expect more minutes for Ty Jerome with Pippen on the bench.
... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Nate Hinton: Signed by Memphis
The Grizzlies signed Hinton on Thursday.
This is an Exhibit 10 deal, as the Grizzlies are looking to fill out their G League roster. Hinton is expected to be waived so he can join up with the Memphis Hustle.
... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Javon Small: Fares well in loss
Small logged 18 points (6-9 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), eight assists, four rebounds and one block in 28 minutes of Wednesday's 145-116 preseason loss to Charlotte.
The No. 48 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Small drew the start in this contest and was a bright spot for the team. Scotty Pippen has been sidelined by a toe issue, so Small has been getting an extended look in Ja Morant's (ankle) absence. For now, the expectation is that Small will see some reps in the G League to open his professional career, but he's certainly making an impression on the team.
... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Jock Landale: Notches 12 points in loss
Landale produced 12 points (4-6 FG, 4-5 FT), three rebounds and one block in 22 minutes of Wednesday's 145-116 preseason loss to the Hornets.
Landale drew the start at center again alongside Jaren Jackson. Santi Aldama is likely to play more minutes than Landale, but the latter may start on Opening Night if the Grizzlies want Aldama to be the primary weapon for the second unit. Landale has averaged 10.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocks through three exhibitions and could be on the deep-league fantasy radar while Zach Edey (ankle) is out.
... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Jaren Jackson: Scores 17 minutes in loss
Jackson produced 17 points (7-20 FG, 3-9 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one block in 22 minutes of Wednesday's 145-116 preseason loss to the Hornets.
Jackson, who underwent surgery to repair a turf toe injury in his right foot in early July, returned at the front end of his projected timetable. There was some obvious rust Wednesday, but with Jackson now ready to play on Opening Night, his ADP is likely to see a late push in a positive direction.
