Duchene was leveled by Jake Middleton during the third period. Prior to his exit, Duchene scored a power-play goal for his second point in three games to begin 2025-26. If the 34-year-old misses time, Adam Erne could enter the lineup and Tyler Seguin or Sam Steel might need to shift from wing to center.
Duchene signed a four-year, $18 million contract extension with Dallas on Thursday.
Duchene was outstanding last season, registering 30 goals and 52 assists, his second-best regular season in his NHL career. The 34-year-old had 27 points on the power play as well as 152 shots on goal. Duchene struggled during the playoffs with only one goal, five assists and a minus-16 rating across 18 postseason appearances.
Duchene scored a power-play goal and went minus-2 in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Oilers in Game 1.
The third-period tally ended a 17-game goal drought for Duchene, dating back to April 10. His goal Wednesday also stood as the game-winner. The center has earned all six of his points this postseason on the power play while adding 18 shots on net, 11 hits, 12 blocked shots and a minus-11 rating over 14 appearances. Duchene was a point-per-game player in the regular season, so the Stars will want Wednesday's effort to spark his offense in the rest of the Western Conference Finals.
