Commanders' Zach Ertz: Cashes in fourth TD
Ertz (shoulder) had three receptions on seven targets for 37 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 44-22 loss to Dallas.
Ertz was one of the few bright spots on either side of the ball for the Commanders in the blowout loss. The veteran starter cashed in his second touchdown in as many weeks, bringing his season receiving line up to 23-229-4 in seven appearances. Ertz showed no limitations from the shoulder injury that plagued him during the practice week, setting him up for another start against the Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Week 8.

Commanders' Zach Ertz: Active as expected Sunday
Ertz (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
The veteran tight end was reported to be trending toward suiting up for Sunday's divisional clash, and that now has been made official. Ertz, who's averaging a modest 4.5 targets per game, should be in for a boost in volume against Dallas due to the absences of WRs Terry McLaurin (quadriceps), Deebo Samuel (heel) and Noah Brown (IR, groin/knee).

Commanders' Zach Ertz: Likely to play Sunday
Ertz (shoulder), who is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Dallas, is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Ertz appears positioned for a significant role in the receiving game this weekend, as Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Deebo Samuel (heel) have both been ruled out, and Noah Brown (groin/knee) was recently placed on injured reserve. After logging six targets while the Commanders had Samuel available for this past Monday's loss to the Bears, Ertz could see his target share grow versus a Dallas defense that's surrendered the most passing yards to opponents in the league through six weeks. His status may not be made official until Washington releases its inactive list roughly 90 minutes prior to kickoff at 4:25 p.m. ET, but Ertz is on track to take the field Sunday.

Commanders' Zach Ertz: Questionable for Sunday
Ertz (shoulder/calf) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Dallas, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Ertz started the week as a non-participant due to rest, upgrading to full Thursday before dropping back to limited Friday. The focus largely has been on Washington's wide receivers this week, but Deebo Samuel (heel) might not be the only game-day decision among the pass catchers. With Terry McLaurin (quad) ruled out, there is a nice opportunity for Ertz and Samuel to pile up looks against a weak Cowboys defense if they avoid the inactive list ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff.

Commanders' Zach Ertz: Bounces back with TD
Ertz brought in all six targets for 43 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders' 25-24 loss to the Bears on Monday night.
Following a Week 5 blanking at the hands of the Chargers, Ertz enjoyed a noteworthy resurgence in Monday's narrow loss. The veteran tight end led the Commanders in receptions and targets while checking in behind only Chris Moore in receiving yards. Ertz also posted his first touchdown since Week 2 on a six-yard scoring grab early in the fourth quarter, rounding out an encouraging night that also saw him tie a season high in receptions. He should have a good chance at carrying over his momentum into Week 7, as he'll face the Cowboys' vulnerable defense on the road.

Commanders' Zach Ertz: Blanked in Week 5
Ertz failed to catch his only target in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Chargers.
Despite Jayden Daniels returning from a knee injury in Week 5, Ertz had his worst game of the season. He was targeted just once and didn't appear to be a part of the Commanders' offensive game plan. Ertz still logged 30 offensive snaps and operated as Washington's No. 1 tight end, playing ahead of John Bates (28 snaps) and Ben Sinnott (17 snaps). With both Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Noah Brown (groin/knee) sidelined Sunday, Ertz was expected to serve as one of the Commanders' primary receiving threats but failed to capitalize. He's likely to operate as Washington's top tight end again in the Week 6 matchup against the Bears.
