  • We chose garlic powder over fresh garlic for this dip. Why? Fresh garlic intensifies as it sits, which can quickly overpower the flavor.
  • Worcestershire sauce adds depth of flavor, but can often be high in sodium. Look for a lower-sodium version or if you can’t find one, use regular Worcestershire sauce and cut the salt back by ¼ teaspoon.
  • If you want to give this dip a little color and boost of flavor, add ¼ cup chopped fresh herbs like basil, chives, parsley or cilantro.

  • Greek yogurt adds plenty of muscle-building protein to this dip. Plus, it provides calcium to support strong bones. Greek yogurt is also a source of probiotics, which help keep your gut in tip-top shape, aid digestion and support your immune system.
  • Sour cream adds some calcium to this dip as well. Look for reduced-fat sour cream, as it is lower in saturated fat. Eating too much saturated fat over time may lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 8 servings

  • 2 cups nonfat plain strained (Greek-style) yogurt

  • ½ cup reduced-fat sour cream

  • ¼ cup lemon juice (from 2 small lemons)

  • ¼ cup water

  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • teaspoons lower-sodium Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

  • ¾ teaspoon ground pepper, plus more for garnish

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • Lettuce spears, cucumbers, carrots, radishes and/or whole-wheat crackers, for dipping (optional)

Directions

  1. Whisk 2 cups yogurt, ½ cup sour cream, ¼ cup lemon juice, ¼ cup water, 2 tablespoons Parmesan, 1 tablespoon garlic powder, 2½ teaspoons Worcestershire, 2 teaspoons mustard, ¾ teaspoon pepper and ¾ teaspoon salt together in a medium bowl until smooth and well combined. Garnish with additional pepper, if desired. Serve with desired dippers.

    No, but it can be! Worcestershire sauce contains anchovies. To make the dip vegetarian, opt for vegetarian or vegan Worcestershire sauce.
