Visit the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Plant Industry web page to find information on their CHEMSWEEP and Plastic Pesticide Container Recycling Programs for applicators.

  • CHEMSWEEP Program
The Department of Agriculture's CHEMSWEEP Program provides licensed farmers, pesticide applicators, and businesses in selected counties a means to dispose of canceled, suspended, or unwanted pesticide products. This program allows applicators to legally dispose of waste pesticides, generally at little or no cost.
  • Plastic Pesticide Container Recycling Program
This is another Department of Agriculture program that provides licensed applicators a means to dispose of empty, triple-rinsed pesticide containers. Many recycling stations are located around the state.
  • Household Hazardous Waste Program (HHW)
HHW is another related program managed by the Department of Environmental Protection. This program helps citizens dispose of household hazardous wastes through organized county collection programs. The HHW program sometimes partners with the CHEMSWEEP program to dispose of pesticides.
