B365 at -120. Jamien Sherwood has cleared this combined tackle line in four of six games this season. As he gets settled into Aaron Glenn’s defensive system, I like him to continue on his league-leading path this season, in terms of tackle production. He’ll face off against Panthers team that has allowed the ninth most tackles this season, including the fifth most to linebackers (per PFF). Five of the Panthers’ six opponents have had an off ball linebacker clear this line. I’d bet this up to over 9.5 at plus odds (for 0.75 betting units).

Jalen Coker injured his quad right before the season and has yet to play. But Dave Canales indicated Coker will have a significant role in his season debut Sunday at the Jets. Coker figures to be Carolina's primary slot receiver. Signing as an undrafted free agent before last season, Coker caught 32 passes for 478 yards and two touchdowns. He drew raves throughout training camp before suffering the injury. With Sauce Gardner likely focused on Tet McMillan, look for Coker to make an impact.

The Jets are coming off a game where they had negative-10 net passing yards, the second time this season they've struggled to move the ball through the air. Fields has thrown the ball more than 27 times just once, against a Cowboys team that put up a big point total and had the Jets playing in garbage time against a terrible pass defense the whole second half. The spread says this will be a close game, and as such it would be weird for Fields to have a high-attempt performance with his only notable receiver likely sidelined. Under 26.5 is fine to play as well, but I'll take advantage of the bigger number at FanDuel.
The Jets surely have eyed this matchup as a promising chance to crack the zero on their SU record. Well, chalk up another likely defeat to bad timing. Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard was productive in their first four games before going down with an injury. Rico Dowdle stepped in and merely generated 473 yards from scrimmage in two outings. Hubbard returns against New York, giving the visitors a potent one-two punch. The Jets likely will miss their primary offensive weapon, with WR Garrett Wilson doubtful. A concern is Carolina’s 0-3 SU record on the road. Countering it is a 3-0 ATS overall mark versus sub-.500 foes at the time. QB Bryce Young, often shaky in unfriendly confines, should carry confidence onto the field.
One of these weeks, the Jets are going to break through. We wonder if it will come with Justin Fields at QB, as he seems to be regressing, everything grinding to a halt last week vs. Denver when the Jets gained barely 80 yards of offense. The career record for Fields as a starter in 5-24; we know the Jets want to see what they might have for the future in Fields, but they'd have a better chance if Tyrod Taylor was at QB. At least Bryce Young has learned how to win NFL games on the Carolina side, and the breakout of Rico Dowdle (almost 400 YR the past two weeks!) has leant a sharper edge to the Panthers. Play Panthers on the ML.

We’re going to buy the dip as we’re getting a hefty discount on this receiving line from Tet McMillan who is operating as a clear cut WR1 and has performed well in this role despite low volume and inconsistent QB play. This is a good matchup against a Jets pass defense that ranks 30th in DVOA, 30th in EPA Per Dropback, and 28th in Coverage Grade. They’ve also been extremely generous to opposing number 1 WRs as they are currently dead last in 1st Read EPA. Bryce Young is attempting a first-read throw on 65% of his dropbacks, which is the fifth-highest rate in the league. He's trying to get the ball where it is supposed to go and its designed to go to McMillan.
The Carolina Panthers are a road favorite. In 2025, that screams green light and it's the guys in green that we will indeed side with. Not only is the very unfamiliar territory for the Panthers, they also fall into the scenario of home underdog that just won outright that has been thrust into the role of road favorite the very next week. We won on this a couple of weeks ago with Jacksonville outright over Kansas City. I believe the Jets get their first win of the season this Sunday. They are also a great team to pair with on a teaser, taking them up to +7.5 or better.
