Q Trailer Drama: Scott Frank, the acclaimed screenwriter of Logan and Out of Sight and creator of such TV shows as The Queen's Gambit and Monsieur Spade, returns to the small screen with a series adaptation of the Department Q Danish crime novels by Jussi Adler-Olsen (previously adapted into a series of Danish feature films). Directed in part by Frank, the nine-episode first season finds the story relocated to Edinburgh, where a talented but abrasive detective (Matthew Goode) is reeling from a tragic shooting that left his partner paralyzed. He is punished, Slow Horses style, with exile to the basement and a seemingly meaningless bureaucratic job as the sole member of an underresourced cold case unit that exists solely as a PR opportunity and isn't meant to do any real work. Set two years before the events of the first film (in other words, nearly a century into the future from today), Alien: Earth is the first entry in the franchise to take place on Earth—one that is governed by five rival mega-corporations, one of which is developing new robot-human hybrids. When Weyland-Yutani's mysterious deep space research vessel crash lands back on Earth, a group of tactical soldiers investigates—and we're guessing that you already suspect what they'll find on board.
