Very interesting game. It is an example of an underestimated title that seems to get left in the dust despite being similar to other games that gotten much higher scores. Shows the inconsistency of criticism: New person in a different mood at the wrong place and time with the right/games or media being **** so many more variables.

The world of Blades of Fure feels unique and alive, full of lore. I have to admit that the combat was a bit hard to get into, but once it clicked... OMG. A marvelous game.

Blades of Fire gives us a fascinating approach to action adventure, using ingredients from Action RPG and souls like within a huge world, to give a mixture with a unique flavor. Its spectacular and addictive battle system, combined with the enormous possibilities of the forging system, make Blades of Fire one of Mercury Steam's best works to date, despite its rough edges.
It’s not an unmissable classic, but it’s a game I’d recommend to those who love the genre. I’d also like to mention that while I was playing the game, I kept thinking how great this combat system would be in new God of War games.
Blades of Fire stands out with its unique sword-based combat and surprisingly deep forging system.
While Blades of Fire brings its own unique twist to the action RPG genre and manages to be entertaining, there is still room for improvement. Its main concept—weapon forging—needs a more intuitive execution, along with some gameplay adjustments. That said, it remains an interesting title, featuring a deeper story than it initially suggests and a methodical combat system that punishes mistakes.
Blades of Fire’s blacksmithing burns bright, but it doesn’t forge a sharp enough edge to put its customizable weapons to good use. The combat is serviceable but overly simplistic, and the mediocre story often failed to evoke any kind of emotion in me at all, positive or negative, as it just goes through the motions from start to finish. The unintuitive map also frequently left me running in circles, making what could have been a fun hunt for secrets feel more like a chore. And when those pain points are compounded by unflattering comparisons to the games it so clearly took inspiration from, Blades of Fire just can’t cut it.
This game deserves to be getting a lot more attention as the game is incredible! And just goes to show how out of touch most modern critics are! This game is as good as God of War imo. It's made by Mercury Steam the guys behind Castlevania Lords of Shadow and Metroid. It's got great graphics for one. And they use they're own engine Which is so nice with all the buggy, samey UE5 slop out there. But the gameplay shines. You have 7 weapon categories with 5 subtypes. Each one will be effective against different things. You scan enemies to see what they are susceptible to and where on the body you can hit. You attack with the face buttons. Triangle is head attack x is low, square is left and O is right. Which I like. This is more an action game than a souls-like. Though you can parry. The combat is brutal and visceral. You make weapons at the forge. This is a great aspect of the game. So much fun and deep. Don't be put off at first. Stick with it and it becomes intuitive. The game also has metroidvania aspects. There is also a ton of enemy variety and bosses. This game was such a surprise and will be in my GOTY contention! Don't sleep on this game people! It's great!!
