Pandemic Preparedness and Biosecurity

Enable locally to protect globally – implementing a framework of international cooperation to build capacity in pathogen detection, surveillance and biosecurity.

Early detection and early warning of harmful viral diseases combined to an efficient network of laboratories are key elements of pandemic preparedness. ICGEB promotes intitiatives for reducing vulnerabilities to infectious diseases and for increasing resilience to pandemics and other biorisks that jeopardise health, peace, security, and prosperity. Actions aim at strengthening capacity for infectious diseases at local, national and regional levels in Europe, Africa and Asia through Training, Capacity Building, Technology Transfer and Research & Development. We work in coordination with partners in Member States and with national and international agencies, such as the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the World Health Organization, the Africa CDC, the Biological Weapons’ Convention Implementation Support Unit at UNODA, the G7-lead Global Parnership WMD, the EEA Norway Fund, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
