Commission of Investigation Concerning Greek Frontier Incidents
The Commission of Investigation Concerning Greek Frontier Incidents was created by United Nations Security Council Resolution 15 (1946) to ascertain the facts relating to alleged border violations of the Greek frontier, and to hear cases of the four governments concerned: Albania, Bulgaria, Greece and Yugoslavia, as well as political prisoners, private individuals and representatives of political parties.
Members of the commission's investigating team left Salonika on March 12th on an expedition by convoy and pack mule to meet the Partisan General Marcos. The rendezvous was fixed at Kastanophyto, a partisan held village on the Greek frontier. Markos failed to appear and part of the Commission returned to Salonika, a minority of the party remaining behind.
