About TREO
The Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office (TREO) reviews state agency rules and procedures to reduce regulatory burdens; eliminate waste, fraud, and unnecessary rules; and increase transparency for Texas taxpayers.
Housed within the Office of the Governor and established on September 1, 2025, by Senate Bill 14, TREO will guide state agencies in finding outdated and redundant regulations and create best practices to make agencies rulemaking processes more efficient. TREO will also house a website that will allow Texans to easily understand what rules they need to follow when starting a new career or business.
The TREO will coordinate with an advisory panel of experts and stakeholders to solicit input from Texans and members of the regulated community.
