• चरक इश्वत र्वैशम्पायनस्याख्या, तत्सम्बन्त्धेन सर्वे
तदन्त्तेर्वाश्वसनश्चरका इत्युच्येन्त्ते। (काश्वशका ४/३/१०२)
• Acharya charaka was court physician of king
kinshik – 2nd century
• There was another meaning of for charak ie. The
physician that wanders from place to place.
दृढबल-
• He was son of kapilbala.
• Panchanadpir-north srinagar- Kashmir.
• 17 chapters of chikitsa, 12 chapters of kalpa,
and sidhi sthan added by drudhabala.
• Drudhabala not only complited the 41 chapters
but also reedited the entire book.
• Charaka samhita was originally composed by
Agnivesh 1000BC
• Revised by Acharya charaka- 3rd and 2nd century
AD
• And redacted by dridhabala in 4th century AD
