Pointillism involved applying small dots of pure color that blend together when viewed from a distance, made famous by Georges Seurat's painting "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte". Fauvism featured bold, vibrant colors that were considered radical at the time by artists like Matisse and Rouault. Expressionism used emotional distortion and abstraction to depict the essence of a subject through artists like Munch and Kandinsky's non-representational works.
