I enjoy taking photographs of the small details
in objects, people, or places that some may
overlook because of the imperfections. I tend to
gravitate towards objects that others might
consider “ugly” but it’s the harshness of the
items that I find interesting. From jagged edges
of buildings to cracks creeping up a rugged
wall, the unrefined grab my attention.
This semester, I particularly enjoyed learning
how to create a mirrored reflection and
tessellation using 1 photograph. The hands-on
cyanotype process was challenging for me
because there was an element of surprise
when developing the print. I am looking forward
to exploring more film negative production and
furthering my technical skills with both the
camera and Photoshop.
