Artists manipulate elements like line, shape, form, space, color, value, and texture to convey meaning and mood in their work. Understanding elements such as how smaller objects appear farther away while larger objects seem closer through the use of space allows viewers to describe, analyze, and discuss works of art using a shared visual language.
