UNSW Precincts

Australia from space

What is a precinct?

UNSW’s precincts model is a strategic framework that drives innovation, collaboration, and economic growth through vibrant, community-embedded initiatives beyond the Kensington campus.

By bringing together academia, industry, government, and community partners, our precincts tackle real-world challenges, accelerate research translation, and foster entrepreneurship.

Our vision and aim

UNSW has ambitiously set out to re-imagine partnerships with our communities. By investing in world-class infrastructure and systems we’re strengthening connections across New South Wales and the ACT to accelerate innovation, test research and education models and make a difference to the diverse communities we serve. And it’s all inspired by our people, resources and partnerships.

Our precincts focus on cross-disciplinary research, innovation, partnership, place-making, network sharing and specialisation. They extend beyond organisational boundaries to deliver economic, health, educational, and social benefits.

We’re committed to removing barriers to collaboration and ensuring best practices.

Australia-wide collaborative partnerships with government, industry and community.

UNSW has committed $1 billion to precinct development until 2030.
