At school they have lifts and ramps and accessible classrooms. I don't have a wheel chair I get around by walking. I can get to most places, I can manage stairs, hills, PE class. But there is this stereotype that when people see me they automatically assume and think 'poor you, you are missing a leg you must need my help'. They offer to carry my books and my bag, to take the lift. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the kindness and gesture, but I am as able as the every other kid at school.
