- When there is no water in the glass bottle, the light travels straight through the bottle, so there are no changes in the direction of the drawings. - But when we pour in the water, the light travels through the water bends and we see the opposite of what actual drawing is. - It happens because of the refraction of light. Refraction means bending of the light. Refraction happens when light travels from one medium to another (i.e from air to water and vice versa) 🧪Materials required- 1. Empty glass bottle • 2. 2 sheets of white paper • 3. Markers • 4. Water

Cool Light Refraction Science Experiment - Arrow Changes Direction!

Reverse Arrow Experiment ➡️⬅️ Here’s a super cool experiment that demonstrates light refraction. Simply hold a drawing of an arrow about 4-5 inches behind a round glass of water. Watch as the arrow reverses direction when it’s behind the water. It seems like magic, but this is actually due to light refraction or the bending of light. The glass acts as a magnifying glass and magnifies the arrow a bit with the curve of the glass. But once the arrow is held behind the focal point, it reverses itself. If you hold the arrow too close to the glass it won’t appear reversed. So cool! Try drawing other images to see if they reverse!
