Was inspired by @thebodymechanic.dpt ‘s post yesterday. 

Incorporating animal movements as a method of training has long been used in martial arts, as a way of moving to improve striking to increase mobility & condition muscles.

Mimicking the movements of the gorilla requires us to hold our body weight, which in turn builds strength in our entire upper body.

The dynamic nature also helps achieve higher levels of mobility & athletic performance.

The crawling patterns also help with upper body strength & stability.

Things to try in cat cow:  • play with the breath, inhaling in cow and exhaling in cat - or the opposite! Or maybe you do a full breath circle in one single movement! Play with it!  • Bend the elbows as you come into cow pose and pull the mat back with your hands - this helps you get into your upper spine more   • slooooow it down and really try to feel every vertebrae moving!
