George Santos Threatened To Flee NYC Over Mamdani, And You Know What Happened Next

The disgraced former representative’s vow spectacularly backfired.

Disgraced former Rep. George Santos’ (R-N.Y.) warning that he’d flee New York City should Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani become its mayor was greeted Tuesday with ridicule, and hope, on social media.

Santos, whose seven-year prison sentence for ripping off his campaign donors was controversially commuted by President Donald Trump last week, fearmongered on X, formerly Twitter:

“Sadly it seems that my family and I will be departing the city I’ve called home my entire life. NYC will become a very dangerous place to live in if we elect mayor Mamdani and that is a risk I am unwilling to take now that I want to start growing my family.”

Critics essentially said good riddance to the serial fabulist, who also this week all but admitted he likely won’t refund his victims.

You poor thing. What about the people you scammed. Any restitution for them?

Mamdani isn't even in office yet and he's already chasing criminals out of the city

Aren’t you the felon and not Mamdani?

You’re leaving because of Mamdani? Sounds like he’s already taking care of crime. 🤷🏼♂️

You are literally a convicted criminal that got off with no punishment.

Good riddance

You’re also gonna have to avoid all the places where the people you stole from live.

You nailed it. Nobody wants to raise their family around unpunished criminals, so you better leave
