Former “GMA3” co-hosts Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes made a big announcement about their future on Tuesday ― but it doesn’t involve a return to the show.
Instead, the couple told listeners of their Amy & T.J. podcast that they are planning to get hitched. You know, married.
“We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged and we’ve been engaged for just about a month now,” Robach said, adding that he and Robach “wanted to let you all know before anybody else was able to. We’ve learned that lesson, I guess, in the past about our relationship.”
Holmes’ remark was a reference to December 2022, when the Daily Mail revealed that the two were dating each other despite being employees on the same ABC show and married to other people.
Holmes also joked that no one in their circle said a word about Robach “dangling a ring in everybody’s face.”
Robach didn’t disagree.
“I was in three massive football stadiums three weekends in a row, wearing my engagement ring very proudly, very excitedly, and kept waiting for somebody to point it out or ask me, ‘Hey, what’s that?’ And it never happened,” she lamented.
“And if people saw it, maybe they were just being polite,” she added. Holmes admits he’s surprised no one picked up on their engagement.
“We were intimately engaged with friends, very close people, for the past three weekends. All of them are gonna think back and go, ‘Oh my god, how did we miss it?’” he said.
Robach and Holmes first started working together on “GMA3: What You Need to Know” in September 2020, when Robach was married to actor Andrew Shue and Holmes was married to attorney Marilee Fiebig.
Both of them were reportedly either separated or in the process of separating from their partners when their relationship became public.
ABC News President Kim Godwin took the couple off the air temporarily in December 2022 before making it permanent in late January of 2023. The two then started their podcast in December 2023.
Neither Robach nor Holmes offered any details about the pending nuptials on Tuesday’s show, but Robach did admit her desires are simple.
“Justice of the peace. Vegas,” she said, but Holmes had questions.
“Is there a justice of the peace in Vegas?” he asked. “I thought only Elvis did them … That’s where you want to have it.”
