Spotlight: Women in weather, climate and water

At local, national, and international levels, women in technology, information, science education, and technical training are making significant contributions while advancing gender perspectives in these fields. To further strengthen the position of women scientists and technologists, it is essential to recognize both the achievements of established women leaders in weather, water, and climate science and the potential of young women who are beginning their careers in these areas.
Ensuring that women of all generations have equal access to science education and technology is a powerful catalyst for progress. It helps guarantee that the developers and users of weather, water and climate services provided by WMO and its Members respond effectively to the needs of the global community—men, women, boys and girls alike. This commitment not only reinforces the role of experienced women as scientists, technologists, and decision-makers, but also creates space for young women to bring fresh perspectives and innovation. Together, they drive more inclusive participation in weather and climate services, decision-making, and policy development.
