Dates and details for the Portugese portion for my trip (the week before Spain) are forthcoming. When I have them, I will post them here, but watch my Appearances page for changes, corrections, additions, etc.
If you're in Spain and would like to get a book signed, hear me talk, hear me read, ask me a few questions, turn up at one of these events. I'll be glad to meet you. I especially recommend Semana Negra, the amazing pop culture festival in Gijon, which will feature lots of other exciting guests from the worlds of mystery, comics, SF, fantasy, thrillers, from all over the world, and a carnival to boot. Parris and I had a wonderful time the last time we attended, eating dinner at midnight and drinking sangria in the booth of the red chicken.
I also hope to make it down south to visit the Rock of Gibraltar (my model for Casterly Rock) and the Alhambra, but so far no public events are scheduled for that portion of the tour. If that changes, new events will be adding on my appearances page.

I will see you in Madrid, then.
Salve!
I'm quite aware that there aren't all those many literary events in India(at least not for English works), but there is still a huge fan base that you have here, quite a few of them are more than fanatical fans. Song of Ice and Fire is as much cherished here as old classics like LOTR, Worm Ouroboros, Lud-in-the-Mist,etc and other nicies like WOT's series. I would like to urge you to seriously consider a tour to India. No doubt it would be a detour for most of the activities, but more and more authors are visiting India, for example just a couple of days back Jeffery Archer began his tour of India to promote "prisoner of birth"
Have a nice trip over here! Last year I was working at the Gigamesh stand and I had loads of people coming to ask me about Feast for Crows, we also converted a few people. I predict you'll have more than a few fans following you around!
Greetings!
M.
Last time we were there, Semana Negra was on the fairgrounds outside the soccer stadium (sorry, "football"), but the beach had plenty of activity as well, including a sand castle building contest. We saw some truly amazing sandcastles before the tide came in and washed them all away.
I hope to go to Gijón :-D
That's always the best, first thing to do. If you are a regular patron of a bookstore, talk to the manager about arranging a visit, and urge them to contact the publisher long before an American author is coming to your country and see if you can generate enough enthusiasm for the bookstore and publisher to arrange a signing. There's expenses and lots of work to do to support a signing, so many stores are reluctant to do so without urging from their customers.
Be welcome to Spain, Mr. Martin. I'm sure you'll enjoy the mediterranean food!
Depending on the store's policies and the size of the crowd, usually you can get the limit signed, then go back to the end of the line and go through again. Or get a friend to come with you and split the books.
Since George will be signing books for many folks, with names that are unfamiliar to him, it would be a polite gesture to take a large card and print your name neatly to give him to copy from as he signs your books.
See you in Barcelona! <3
Thanks for sharing that with us!!! ^__^
you take lime and salt with that, or straight from the botelo?
See you in Madrid.
Actually, I'm sure we'd all love to hear how your entire trip is - sightseeing included! Will Parris be joining you?
Have fun!
Thanks for the good wishes, we enjoyed our time in Spain in 2001 and have been looking forward to our return for many years.
There won't be a slice of Iberian ham left in the whole country once we've finished the tour.
