DANCESTAR USA 2004 TAKES
ELECTRONIC MUSIC MAINSTREAM

Paris Takes Best Celebrity DJ Award; Precision Guided Musicians Explode With Collaborative World Exclusive; Blue Man Group Light Up The Night With Thundering Show Finale

Miami, Florida – Wednesday March 10th 2004: With its bold collaborations and attendance lined with Hollywood’s glitterati, last night’s DanceStar USA 2004 – The Third Annual American Dance Music Awards - showed the world why it has become the master of all ceremonies and the world’s most prestigious electronic music event.

Sizzling temptress Paris Hilton dazzled the world’s media as she arrived in downtown Miami with host Carmen Electra by her side to accept the award for Best Celebrity DJ.

Wearing a classic draped couture style dress by Jennifer Nicholson, Hilton joined co-presenters The Jungle Brothers and DJ Rap on stage and commented: I am so excited to be presented with my first DanceStar award. I like spinning at house parties and Miami is without a doubt my favorite party town. I am so excited to be part of DanceStar USA this year.

The night’s big winners were Paul Van Dyk who scooped three awards for Best International DJ, Best Event and his collaborative effort with DJ Colette and Felix Da Housecat for Motorola’s global advertising campaign won him Best Use Of Music In A TV Commercial. The Crystal Method also ran away with three awards including Best Act, Best Album Legion Of Boom and Best Single Born Too Slow. Renowned DJ duo and Grammy winners Deep Dish took home two awards including the prestigious Best DJ award and Best Compilation. Carl Cox and Frankie Knuckles took to the stage to present Moby with a special award for Outstanding Contribution To Dance Music.

The show began with a performance by Precision Guided Musicians – a world exclusive collaboration by Perry Farrell, Moby and Paul Van Dyk who stunned the audience with an electronic reworking of Lou Reed’s classic track Walk On The Wild Side. The Crystal Method took to the stage with their lively electro-rock number Born Too Slow while former N-Sync front man JC Chasez pleased the 4,000 strong crowd with his current track Some Girls (Dance With Women). Other performances included the UK’s popular Audio Bullys who performed a medley of Snake and Real Life. Motorcycle performed their best seller As The Rush Comes, but it was the amazing Blue Man Group that provided a mouth-watering finale of the classic track I Feel love as the sky was lit with an amazing firework display.

Andy Ruffell, DanceStar Founder and CEO commented on the show:
This year we feel the show has a much wider appeal as we have introduced a number of popular but credible mainstream acts that remain relevant to the electronic music genre. The unique performance by Precision Guided Musicians shows how effective collaborations are between popular A-list artists and cutting-edge electronic music acts. With the likes of Carmen Electra, Paris Hilton and JC Chasez as an integral part of the show, this year’s DanceStar USA will be exciting to broadcasters and audiences around the world.

Congratulations to MOBY who has been named winner of the award for Outstanding Contribution To American Dance Music. Moby, who attended DanceStar USA in Miami to collect his award, says:
I am proud and honored to be accorded this recognition by DanceStar and the electronic music industry in America. I understand this is the most prestigious award at the annual event and that means a lot to me. I've been involved in dance music since 1984 (almost twenty years!) and it's great that there is finally a TV event like DanceStar showcasing the music's continued development.
