MediaWiki:Sidebar's syntax is weird legacy syntax that isn't flexibly customisable because it isn't full wikitext. It needs replacing with something fit-for-purpose.

Basically any time a special page is transcluded it breaks main context. This is why in this example the user is seeing the loss of logged in status (e.g. no notification icon and watch icon)

@Jdlrobson-WMF I apologize in advance if I'm missing something here, but I'm a little confused as to how this task could be a duplicate of T381658, as (to the best of my knowledge) enwiki isn't yet using Parsoid by default, and - at first glance - T381658 seems to be describing a different issue to this. Please tell me if I'm missing something, though.

I've subtasked T387091: FlaggedRevs incorrectly causes icons to be displayed next to usernames & user-links to be hidden when viewing a page history on mobile (with AMC enabled), and have left a comment on that task with notes of some investigating I've done into it.

I did a little bit of investigating to try and find out why - when a user has Advanced Mobile Contributions enabled - having FlaggedRevs active on a page causes the "(talk | contribs)" links to disappear (and an icon next to the editor's name to appear) when the screen width is <640px.

I experienced this issue on an enwiki SPI page, which (AFAIK) indirectly transcludes Special:PrefixIndex through another template. The issue seems intermittent -- I've been able to reproduce it, but then (AFAICS) refreshing the page seems to sometimes temporarily resolve the issue.

This was a tracking task for a one-off project in 2019, and it looks like almost all of the subtasks were completed. I think we can close it now.

I don’t think the message itself got much better (the links I mentioned in T237246#7796142 now overflow instead of breaking, which makes them take up much less space, and also makes them much less discoverable… a questionable gain).
