Our goal is to take what we learn inside the gates of Shepherd’s Hill Academy (SHA) every day and export it so that you can learn from what we’re doing and avoid the need for a residential program for your teen.

About Trace Embry

Trace Embry and his wife Beth are the Founders of Shepherd’s Hill Academy (SHA), a Christ-centered, nature-based, therapeutic residential program, as well as a private accredited school for troubled teenagers. He has over 35 years of experience working with families of troubled teens. All aspects of the ministry operate using solid biblical principles to address life’s issues.

At Shepherd’s Hill Academy, membership is upheld within the AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors). SHA is accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), licensed by the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission (GAC), a member of Georgia Association of Christian Schools (GACS) the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS), and National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP). Trace is the radio program and podcast Host of License to Parent with Trace Embry. License to Parent gives Insight for Today’s Culture and biblical guidance to parents of hurting families and struggling teenagers. License to Parent with Trace Embry Christian Parenting program is a member of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB). Trace’s previous background is in Law Enforcement, Entrepreneurship, and Christian Education.

Trace also speaks at civic organizations and churches. For other humanitarian efforts to help hurting parents and families, Trace writes parent-help blogs, and teaches parenting classes. His ministry has been blessed to be a part of God’s work in transforming the lives of hundreds of teens and their families in crisis since 1994. He Authored the book “The Miracles of Shepherd’s Hill: An Extraordinary Odyssey of Divine Interventions” where he shares his family’s story during the founding of SHA. He’s been married to his wife Beth since 1980. They have five children and nine beautiful grandchildren of their own.

About Michelle Hill

Radio has been ingrained in Michelle for most of her life. This love for radio has taken her to various radio stations and ministries in places like Chicago, Alaska and other snow covered terrains like her hometown in north central Iowa, and now Michigan. Michelle serves as Producer for Revive Our Hearts Weekend w/ Dannah Gresh. She also can be heard on the radio broadcast/podcast License To Parent and FamilyLife This Week®. Michelle has been mentoring young women for the last 20 years and helped FamilyLife create the product Passport2Identity for young women and their moms. She also has a fascination for snowflakes and the color yellow. Michelle makes her home in Buchanan, Michigan.
