The book From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

From Blood and Ash Series

By Jennifer L. Armentrout

Jennifer L. Armentrout quickly became one of my favorite authors from the moment I picked up one of her books for the first time. This series does have a pretty specific order, and there are actually two interlocked series, so make sure to check out the complete guide to the Blood and Ash & Flesh and Fire Series.

Summary of From Blood and Ash

Our main character, Poppy, has been chosen since she was young to be the Maiden, meaning that she can never be touched, no one can look at her, no one can speak to her, and she must be fully isolated and guarded at all times from the entire kingdom, even those close to her.

All Poppy has to look forward to is her eventual Ascension, where she will be deemed worthy by the gods. All she really wants to do, though, is fight. Instead, she is forced to sit on the sidelines during the day and sneak away at night to help those she can.

But, there’s a boy who is a new guard at the castle named Hawke, and he has her questioning everything she’s ever known and unveiling some shocking secrets about her own life.

The book Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

Fourth Wing

By Rebecca Yarros

If you’re like, “of course I’ve already read Fourth Wing,” LISTEN, this is for those of you that haven’t yet. It’s really good. Also, I have been making a Complete Guide to Dragons, Characters, Signets, & More for those who have and need a little refresher.

Summary of Fourth Wing

Violet Sorrengail’s entire life plan was to be in the Scribe quadrant, but seemingly out of the blue, her mother forced her to join the Rider quadrant, aka, the quadrant where she’s the commander of the school.

You think anyone would be into the idea of becoming a dragon rider, but the mortality rate of this school is insanely high. Now, Violet has to fight for her life every day to not only get through the trials, but also to bond a dragon before the end of the year.

The four book Bargainer series, featuring Rhapsodic, A Strange Hymn, The Emperor of Evening Stars, and Dark Harmony by Laura Thalassa

The Bargainer Series

By Laura Thalassa

I absolutely binged this steamy romance series, and it’s one you absolutely will not want to sleep on. It starts as very urban fantasy and transitions to more of a general fantasy book with a lot of characters you’ll adore.

Summary of Rhapsodic (Book One)

Callypso Lillis, over the last seven years, has asked the Bargainer for a lot of favors, which can be seen with the black beads going up her arm. The Bargainer always collects on his IOUs, but he never has with Callie. That is, until he shows up in her room.

His first request? Admitting that she has feelings for him. But, despite the flirting, there is more of a reason for him to be here. He wants her help with the fae warriors going missing in the other world and being returned in a glass casket with a baby in her arms.

The book Not Another Vampire Book by Cassandra Gannon

Not Another Vampire Book

By Cassandra Gannon

Let’s talk vampire kings and paranormal romance. Not only is this cover absolutely gorgeous, but I am a big fan of the Enchated-esk story telling where you get sucked into a story and have to try and get it back on plot.

Summary of Not Another Vampire Book

Karalynn Donnelly is editing a very stupid romance novel when she suddenly finds herself transported into this vampire love story. To top it off, she accidentally prevents the main love interests from ever meeting. Now, Slade, the vampire king, thinks that Karalynn must be his mate, and Kara must team up with Damien, the villain of the story, to try and get this book back on track.

A Court of Thorns and Roses book series

A Court of Thorns and Roses

By Sarah J. Maas

I feel like when you think of the romantasy genre as a whole, A Court of Thorns and Roses and Sarah J. Maas in general is where everyone’s brains go immediately. Of course, when I am talking about A Court of Thorns and Roses, I have to mention Throne of Glass and the Crescent City series, both of which are incredibly good and you should absolutely give them a shot.

Summary of A Court of Thorns and Roses

Feyre is a nineteen-year-old human whose entire life is turned upside down when she kills a wolf on a hunting trip to provide her family with food. Suddenly, a fae man shows up and drags her to the land of the fae, where she must now save everyone in his lands.

The book Phantasma by Kaylie Smith

Phantasma

By Kaylie Smith

If you are a fan of dark romances and want to branch into dark romantasy, Phantasma is going to be your new favorite read. This book has similar vibes to One Dark Window, in terms of the gothic atmosphere it finds itself in. But, it’s definitely strictly adult romance, along with all the other books on this list, honestly.

Summary of Phantasma

After her sister disappears, Ophelia is forced to enter a deadly game in hopes of finding her and, if she survives, maybe winning a single wish. Within this haunted mansion, all the contestants will do anything to win, even take out the competition.

Blackwell promises that he can lead her through the competition, and in return, she must give up ten years of her life if she’s not able to free him at the end of this game. Ophelia knows that trusting him is a bad call, but she also feels this lingering attraction to him she can’t seem to dismiss.

The Book Quicksilver by Callie Hart

Quicksilver

By Callie Hart

If you are a fan of forbidden romance and a bit of a slow burn romance, I think this one will really scratch that itch for you. I listened to the audiobook and found that to be a very enjoyable experience; the narrators are perfect for this story.

This series has a very interesting branch of magic, which I think made this story so enjoyable and unique. Also, while it has high fantasy vibes, it’s a very immersive fantasy experience that blends well for a general fantasy reader.

Summary of Quicksilver

Saeris Fane has had to do a lot of things to stay alive, including hiding her powers and stealing from the Undying Queen. When she gets caught, she ends up unsealing the gate between realms and is transported to the realm of the fae.

Saeris turns out to be the only one who can help Kingfisher in a centuries-long conflict, and he’s the only way she’ll ever make it back home.

The book The Coven by Harper L. Woods

The Coven

By Harper L. Woods

If you’re into paranormal elements in your romantasy books, come meet The Coven! With dark magic and dark academia vibes, this beauty is going to be perfect for you. There’s a ton of tension, a lot of “I hate you but also why are you hot?” vibes, and complex characters that really make the story worth reading.

Summary of The Coven

Willow is here for one thing and one thing only: revenge. She was raised knowing that The Coven took her father’s birthright and her aunt, so she has to get revenge for him and her own family to ensure her brother doesn’t face the same fate.

The Coven is part of Hollow’s Grove University, so she has to attend. Only one problem, the Headmaster, Alaric Grayson Thorne, may just hate her as much as she hates him. But for the first time in fifty years, the Coven is welcoming thirteen new students into their ranks.

The Four Horsemen series which includes Pestilence, War, Famine, and Death by Laura Thalassa

The Four Horsemen Series

By Laura Thalassa

Talk about a high-stakes romance when you start getting interested in the dude who was coming to wipe out your closest friends, your town, and everyone you know. I love this premise so much for a dark romance fantasy novel, it’s just so fun.

Summary of Pestilence

When Sara Burns sees Pestilence riding into town, she knows he’s here to wipe out her friends, family, and everyone she loves. So, she does the first thing she can think of and immediately shoots him off his horse.

There’s only one problem with this great plan: Pestilence cannot be killed. Since he’s obviously pissed, Sara is taken prisoner. Now, to save her town, she’s going to have to lose her heart in the process.

The book Bride by Ali Hazelwood

Bride

By Ali Hazelwood

Alright, who can say no to a paranormal enemies-to-lovers romance? Not me, that’s for sure. Also, I slept on Ali Hazelwood for way too long, and this book really made me explore her writing more.

After this book, I finally read The Love Hypothesis, and man, that one was so good! I am really looking forward to reading Deep End as soon as it becomes available at my library.

Summary of Bride

The Vampyres and the Weres are mortal enemies, but they decide to keep the peace the old-fashioned way, through marriage. Now, Misery Lark finds herself married to Lowe, an alpha who rules with ruthlessness but still with justice.

Misery is willing to live a life alone in Were territory, as long as it means she gets the only thing she’s ever cared about.

I hope that this list lets you find your next favorite read! Let me know your favorite romantasy in the comments.
