‘Epicenter Festival’ To Replace ‘Carolina Rebellion’ In 2019

The ‘Carolina Rebellion‘ festival will not return in 2019 with the inaugural ‘Epicenter Festival‘ now officially announced to take its place. That festival will be held at the newly created Rockingham Festival Grounds in Richmond County, NC on Friday, May 10th through to Sunday, May 12th. Festival producer Danny Wimmer and his Danny Wimmer Presents company will be putting on the new festival and commented of the change:

“We are very proud of what ‘Carolina Rebellion‘ represented, so we understand that our decision to replace it was confusing to people. It took more time than we had hoped to make the final decision and then work out all of the details. Ultimately, we felt that there was so much more that we could accomplish in the right circumstances.

The creation of the ‘Epicenter of rock ‘n’ roll’ in the heart of North Carolina gives us the ability to expand on the festival experience with enhanced camping amenities, nighttime entertainment with no curfew, and expanded food and beverage offerings, all highlighted by a massive music lineup covering the spectrum of rock, metal and alternative rock music. There’s always a next level to strive for — and after eight great years of ‘Carolina Rebellion‘, ‘Epicenter‘ is that next level.”

A full lineup announcement for the festival will be made at 9 AM EST/6 AM PST on December 10th. The festival is the second to get a name change for 2018 as Wimmer has also recently rebranded his ‘Rock On The Range Festival‘ as the ‘Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival.

That move came about as Wimmer and partner AEG found themselves in a difference of opinions about where to take the festivals next. AEG also co-owned the ‘Carolina Rebellion‘ festival as well. With Danny Wimmer Presents and AEG having since ended their partnership back in September, the name changes became a necessity going forward.
