Description

Get your students interacting with decimals in a real world way with this resource! Multiplying decimals is made fun and interactive with take out menus and a dining out simulation.

For this activity, you will need to use take-out menus from local restaurants. Your students will LOVE to "dine" at some of their favorite places, making it even more meaningful to them. I like to keep a stack of menus from many places but you could also all use the same menu. Restaurants are always very generous to share these with teachers and students!

Included in this resource:

-Door signs

-Pre-activity worksheet

-Student recording, planning, and solving sheets with activities and prompts

-Table numbers/markers

And MANY extension activities:

-Receipt publishing ticket

-Yelp review worksheet

-Restaurant advertisement

-Reflection writing piece

-Challenge task cards with recording page

This was the perfect way to review decimal operations! The kids were fully engaged and I was able to use menus from some of the local places around town.

I LOVED THIS & so did my students. This was so fun and they throughly enjoyed it. I presented it to my PLC partner and we couldn’t wait to do it with our students. We flipped our rooms to look like a diner setup. I shrunk down the table numbers to be about 2x2 and had each student draw a card on their way into class. The card told them which table they would be dining at. They worked together and everyone really enjoyed the activity!
