Creating a Gradual Value Change
Select 3 to 5 markers
from the same color
range with values from
light to dark
Apply the lightest color
vertically several times
to the entire area
While the lightest color
is still wet, use the next
darker color to cover
approximately ( Two
thirds ) of the area
Immediately
use the first
color and
apply it
vertically
several times
where the two
colors meet.
While the
second color
is still wet,
use the next
darker color
to cover the
remaining
One third of
the area
Immediately Use the Second
color to CLEAN THE LINE
BETWEEN THE TWO COLORS
Using a colorless
[ BLENDER ]
as the lighter color will give
the drawing a soft water color
appearance

For a very dark shade
you can flip the paper
and paint from the
other side
Note : When you Render with markers
on ( Ink Drawing ) if the ink is not
waterproof, the ink will bleed on the
marker color :
Technical Tips !
When Outlines of the original drawing are not
readily visible, its is necessary to outline the
entire drawing again with a black felt-tip pin
The lighter the value
and the smaller the
size of a drawing,
the thinner the pen
that should be used
Technical Tips !
Marker colors may be
mixed by applying one
color on top of another
Technical Tips !
To create strips apply the first
coat of marker and wait 2 to 3
minutes for it to dry then use
the same marker to draw over
the desired area.
Technical Tips !
Applying two coats of a
color, waiting between
coats, will make the next
darker value
4 4 5
44 5
Technical Tips !
Create a marker chart with spectrum selection and good range of
values for quick reference
Technical Tips !
Markers dry easily in a hot, dry
environment. They should be
kept in a cool place
Technical Tips !
If a marker does become dry, it
may be rejuvenated by adding
a few drops of lighter fluid
rubber cement thinner, or
Toluene. This will somewhat
reduce the intensity of color
Technical Tips !
Never throw away old markers.
Dry markers can often be used
to make lighter values and
special effects
Technical Tips !
Use index cards, masking tape,
or other appropriate material
as a frisket, or mask, for a
smooth straight-lined look
What is Frisket ?
Technical Tips !
Technical Tips !
Use a white colored pencil or
Pelican graphic white ink to
add highlights of
necessary
Technical Tips !
In order to achieve a shiny
appearance on flat surfaces, use
vertical strokes of the same color
of the object being reflected
Thanks :D
