HISTORY
William J. Morton
Who was patented of Electrospinning in
july 1902
INTRODUCTION
• Electrospinning is a fiber production method which uses electric
force to draw charged threads of polymer solutions or polymer melts
up to fiber diameters in the order of some hundred nanometers.
• Electrospinning mainly used in voltage for this reason we can called
Electrospinning. Usually we shall used 10-50 kv voltage
• By Electrospinning process we can produced nano fiber 1-100nm diameter fibers
are Nano fiber.
Nanofibers
APPARATUS
• Syringe
• Polymer solution
• Syringe pump
• Needle
• High Voltage
• Tylor Cone
• Jet
• Collector Plate
PROCESS
VERTICAL SET UP HORIZONTAL SET UP
CONT…
• The polymer solution is pumped to the tip of the needle
• An electric field is created between the tip of the needle and the collector plate
by applying high voltage in the system.
• When the surface tension in the liquid droplet is overcome by the force of the
electric field, the droplet is distorted forming the so called taylor cone. The
distortion leads to an electrically charged jet ejection that moves towards the
collector transforming thin fibers. When a rotating collector is used aligned
polymer fibers are generated.
