Ingredients
For the Dumplings:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
¾ cup milk
4 tbsp butter, melted
For the Broth/Base:
6 cups chicken broth (or homemade stock)
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp onion powder
Optional: ½ tsp thyme or parsley for flavor
Instructions
1- Make dumpling dough: In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined (do not overmix).
2- Bring broth to a boil in a large pot. Season with pepper and onion powder.
3- Drop dumplings: Reduce to a simmer. Use a spoon to drop dough in heaping tablespoons into the hot broth.
4- Simmer gently: Cover and simmer for 15–20 minutes without lifting the lid. Dumplings will puff up and become light and fluffy.
