Lanyon Quoit sits between Madron and Morvah in the region of Penzance, Cornwall. The original dates back to the Neolithic period but collapsed during a storm in 1815. It was re-erected in 1824 but the capstone was only set on three upright stones due to damage from the storm. The upright stones were themselves squared and shortened so the entire construction is somewhat lower than it should be. The re-erected quoit was also placed at right angles to its original position.
