IMP Mnemonics and Optical Sign Conventions

Diverging= SUV (small, upright, virtual) image regardless if it's a lens or a mirror. "UV NO IR"= Upright image always Virtual; NO image formed if object at focal pt.; Inverted image always Real. f is positive when the mirror/lens is converging. For mirrors, this is when mirror is concave. For lenses, this is when lens is convex. Moving ray line to form rays striking lens parallel to optical axis will always show if converging or diverging. Plane (flat) mirror always virtual
