The regions of the brain visible from a lateral view are the cerebrum, brainstem and cerebellum. The cerebrum presents ridges called gyri and grooves called sulci. The main sulci are the central sulcus, lateral sulcus and parieto-occipital sulcus. The gyrus anterior to the central sulcus is called precentral gyrus (in blue), while the posterior one is the postcentral gyrus (in red).
