This Print is made from Elena Eros original Oil Painting: "Lady in yellow". The artist painted the original based on her sketches from Royal Ascot Racecourse in England, during the famous and glamorous events in June. When Elena Eros lived in England, local Art Dealer, asked her to paint Royal Ascot. Elena Eros shared her memories: "My Art Dealer took me there and I wasn't let through the gate, because of my appearance. I was dressed nicely, but it didn't fit any of the dresscodes accepted at the Royal Ascot Racecourse. We went back to my house. I changed into a nice dress, heels and put on a hat. My Art dealer took me back to Ascot Racecourse. I was walking around sketching, taking photos and trying to come up with an original idea. At the end of the day, I was standing on the balcony of one of the building looking around. Suddenly I glanced down and saw a flowing "river of hats": people moving towards the exit gate. I knew I was looking at my signature painting: The Hats. I was sketching and taking photos. Back home, in my studio, I looked at hundreds of sketches, photos and I drew compositions of my first "Hats" painting. As far as I know, Royal Ascot is only Racecourse which requires gentlemen to wear hats. I was grouping, composing, emphasizing outfits, movement of the crowd, body language and the HATS, of course. Since then I adopted a "bird" point of view for my Ascot Racecourse paintings, painting people from the back most of the times in order to add some mystery to it, giving the view an opportunity to create their own stories and imagine the appearance of people from the front. Thank you very much for reading and liking my "Hats" This painting might resemble of Kentucky Derby or other beautiful Horse racing events, where ladies appear in full glamour" (and some gentlemen too).
