CUT + CLEAN
Trim off yellow or crispy fronds.
Leave green growth intact or cut halfway back—it’s up to you.

BRING IN BEFORE FROST
Move indoors when temperatures drop below 40 degrees.
Place in bright, indirect light near a window out of direct sun to keep it growing all winter, or in a lightly lit basement or garage to keep it dormant until spring.

WATER LIGHTLY
Keep soil evenly moist but never soggy. Keep in a saucer so it can drink.
Do not let the soil dry out completely.

KEEP COZY
Avoid heat vents, drafts, or cold windows.
Maintain temperatures between 40–75°F if possible.

Anya Lautenbach on Instagram: "❗️This is amazing ‼️

Multiply roses to make more free plants for your garden. Do it between autumn and winter.
💡 Select healthy, pencil thick shoots of current season growth
💡 Cut just below a node at the base where the leaves are growing. Remove leaves on lower third. Cut the top above the leaf node at the top
💡 Place your cuttings in pots or directly in the ground.
💡 Store outside during the winter

Detailed step-by-step instructions how to propagate and more useful content about roses are in my book, The Money-Saving Garden Year. Link in my bio

PLANT BREEDERS RIGHTS
Buying a strong Rose from a reputable specialist is a good investment, but remember that most roses are protected by plant breeders rights which means you can only take cuttings for you

The beauty of these other plant options is that they’re typically all pest resistant, including not bothered much by deer 🙌

Anya Lautenbach on Instagram: "❗️ I couldn’t live without them‼️

Spring flowering bulbs planted in pots are like treasure. They give me something to look forward to in the darkest days of winter. When the first shoots start to appear, they lift me up and give me hope.
In the spring time, when they are all in bloom, it’s like a celebration. I call them pots of joy, because spring flowering bulbs planted in pots bring me so much positivity. I hope you are planting yours.

More great content about pots is in my third book, The Money-Saving Gardener Containers. Pre-order your copy now! Link to my book is in my bio."

Anya Lautenbach on Instagram: "❗️This video will save you a fortune ‼️

To multiply hydrangeas, cut a pencil thick stem just below the leave node at the bottom, and just above the leaf bud at the top. Best time to do it between late autumn and winter.

For propagation I always use peat free compost mixed with grit.

I scrape the skin of my cuttings and place them in the pot to root. Water them well and leave outside over winter. The following spring I have hydrangeas for free.

Hydrangeas are very easy to propagate! If you follow my fotsteps you’ll save a forture and you’ll feel great!

I have included lots of useful content about growing and propagating hydrangeas in The Money-Saving Garden Year book. Link to my book is in my bio. 🫶🧚🏻💚"
