I use blue Ferris wax in most of my designs because it’s slightly flexible, which makes it easier to remove stones if I’m casting after setting. It’s not too brittle, unlike green wax, which has a higher melting point and is better for carving but more prone to breakage. When choosing your wax, it’s important to think about what you’re using it for - each wax has its own unique purpose and melting point. That’s why blue is my go to choice for many of my organic jewellery designs.

How to remove gemstones from wax jewellery 👇 1. Soften the wax with a light flame 2. Use a blunt craft knife so that the blade doesn’t slice through your jewellery design 3. Apply pressure to the claws/prongs, focus on the opposite side to where you’re lifting 4. Touch up the base of your prongs to add strength. 5.
