🛠DIY your front door
I thought I would have to hire out this process and pay nearly $1500! Nope. It’s a relatively easy DIY you can do to save yourself hundreds of dollars.
Demo:
• box cutter to remove trim
• crow bar
• hammer
•reciprocating saw
Installation:
• level
• speed square
• nail gun
• screw driver
• shims
•hammer
Remove the old door frame and then place door in opening - bottom first. Use level, speed square, shims and hammer to get the door plum and flush with the interior wall. Place shims in 6 places along the outside of the frame. They should be snug but not forced in place. Nail and then anchor with screws. Add a header board to the top (I used a 1x4) and nail in place.
You’ll want to insulate and seal the opening around the door usin
