Australia is a strategically important market for Barclays Investment Bank, and one of the most promising markets in the region. Barclays has firmly established itself in Australia as a trusted financial partner with its robust presence as an origination hub for Australia and New Zealand clients. Having re-entered the Australian market in 2018, Barclays continues to innovate and adapt to the evolving needs of its clients.
In September 2020, Barclays became a foundation investor in Barrenjoey Capital Partners, an Australia- based full-service financial services firm. In a move to further strengthen the strategic partnership, Barclays has increased its shareholding in Barrenjoey from 9.9% to 18.2% in May 2022, providing additional regulatory capital to support the growth in Barrenjoey’s Markets business.
