    Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:123466Genetic loci associated with exercise endurance were mapped in 99 animals from a (BALB/cJ x DBA/2J)F2 intercross. Parental strain BALB/cJ displays high maximum exercise endurance whereas parental strain DBA/2J displays low maximal exercise endurance. Animals were phenotyped on running wheels at 6- to 9-weeks of age. A panel of 108 polymorphic markers at a resolution of 12.6 cM was used for genome scan. A locus at 59.6 cM on mouse Chromosome X shows linkage to exercise endurance near DXMit121 (LOD=2.45) in the initial genome scan using 24 animal with highest and lowest phenotypes. This locus was confirmed in fine map analysis (DXMit31, LOD=2.26) and is designated Eeq1 (exercise endurance QTL 1). Eeq1 explains 10% of the variance and appears to be orthologous to a rat exercise endurance QTL at D16Rat17.Suggestive linkage to exercise endurance in females was detected at 42.1 cM on mouse Chromosome 8 near D8Mit359 (LOD=2.21). This locus was subsequently confirmed in fine map analysis and is designated Eeq2 (exercise endurance QTL 2). Eeq2 explains 9% of the variance. |
