Description

Observation.org is a non-profit organisation recording and presenting international plant, animal and fungi observations. Our vision is that actively engaging people with nature creates understanding, inspires conservation and supports scientific research. Observation.org provides observers everywhere with best-of-industry technology to collect, validate and share high quality fieldwork data. The vast majority of users on Observation.org are citizens who enjoy spending time recording observations. Our platform is both accessible for beginners and versatile enough for professional use. The observations concern all species groups. Observations can be accompanied by pictures and/or sound recordings. Our image recognition software NIA (Nature Identification API) helps our observers identify species. Quality control of the data is very important to us. Observation.org has a big network of experts willing to volunteer their time to manually validate observations. NIA and knowledge rules also play a role in checking the probability of observations. All approved observations are uploaded to GBIF.
