Watch live Bundesliga games on Friday nights on the BBC

Top-flight German football is being shown live on the BBC this season after rights were secured to broadcast Friday night Bundesliga matches through to 2027.

The coverage will continue on Friday, 24 October when Werder Bremen look to go three matches unbeaten as they host Union Berlin.

All matches will be available to watch live on the BBC Sport website, app and on BBC iPlayer every Friday, with clips of the biggest in-game moments across BBC Sport's social media channels.

Werder Bremen have managed to pick up four points from their last two fixtures and have doubled their points from the opening five matches.

Although they have only won twice this campaign, the Green-Whites have faced four of last season's top five in their opening five fixtures and managed to earn a hard-fought point in week two against Bayer Leverkusen, a result that saw Erik ten Hag's time at Leverkusen come to an end.

Union Berlin got a much-needed win in last Friday's match, beating league strugglers Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1.

The win propelled the Berlin side from 13th to ninth in the Bundesliga, and a win against Bremen would see them sat in a place for European football next season, a big change from the previous two seasons where they've had to fight off relegation.

Of the ten times these two sides have met in the Bundesliga, Union Berlin have won six of those fixtures and only one match has ended with shared points. Despite that, Werder Bremen will take confidence in the fact they picked up four points against their opponents last season, including a 4-1 home win in December.
