There have been many pop and rock groups split up due to "rock star" antics. Acting like a "rock star" doesn't seem productive even for people who are actually rock stars.

The music industry takes most of the money, the actual stars don't get that much. If rock stars burn out then the music companies still make good money and they just launch another rock group to replace them. Copying the music industry seems counter-productive if you care about the quality of the product or the life expectancy of the workers.

Rock star comparisons are useful... up to a point. I mean there are probably hundreds of millions of people who spent a lot to buy an iPhone yet they never heard of Steve Jobs.
