Sorry, I wasn't being sarcastic. Maybe that was poor wording on my part (is gem that often used ironically?)

I genuinely enjoyed Neil's comment a lot for I feel it's great wisdom, not only for its pleasant self-reference or its rhetorical structure. I suppose we all know more or less that starting a fight is definitely not the good way to solve an issue, yet I'd never laid a finger on it so clearly.

Anyway, I will definitely try and think "focus, what's the goal here?" in the future to help me avoid escalating tensions in my teamwork.

As a retired maintainer, Neil speaks from experience. And the community he led is a happy one, in my experience.

A very happy one. It's hard to think of many other communities as collegial and helpful-to-a-fault. TeX would count, but no others I'm aware of.
